RECTO VERSO
music album ZINE
Released in September 2016 through Barclay Records, the album weaves together house music, synth-pop, and the French chanson tradition, resulting in a body of work that merges French pop with the contemporary textures of dance music. Each spread of the zine corresponds to one of the album's twelve tracks, translating the emotional arc of the music into a visual and typographic form. The project is equally an exercise in experimental typography — arranging text in non-linear, compositionally driven layouts that mirror the layered, unhurried quality of Paradis' sound.
This zine takes Recto Verso — the debut studio album by Paradis, a French electronic duo composed of Simon Mény and Pierre Rousseau — as its source material and structural blueprint.
